Wanted: Affordable motel/hotel/cabin/B&B for a three-night, personal writing retreat. Only pleasant settings with character need apply, in either a country location with trees, a gurgling stream, or majestic mountains, or in a quaint village with quaint shops strung along a quaint sidewalk that begs to be strolled. Accommodations must include a bathtub for long soaks in company with a cup of a tea and a good book, and a quiet place for contemplation, such as a fireplace, balcony, porch, hot tub, or swimming pool. A full kitchen would be helpful.
Ten days have passed since I opened the Book #3 manuscript and added to it. I have a good reason — I was under the weather last week — but my heart knows no logic. It tends to panic a bit. It wants to go away, get away somewhere far from the interruptions, distractions, and background noise.
I live surrounded by possibilities ― Jackson Hole, Yellowstone Park, Sun Valley, and dozens of little towns along the Snake or Salmon rivers. So I spent several hours yesterday searching the Net for such a place ― and wasted my time. I found fun, and I found affordable, but there was no Fun-AND-Affordable to be found. It’s summer, the tourist season. After the kids return to school and before the snow piles up on the ski runs, that’s when I’ll find all I’m looking for.
Okay, so this is the place in this story where I present the solution to my problem, explaining that I either found the perfect accommodations in the perfect setting in the most unlikely location, or that I spoke soothing words into my heart and made peace with staying home. Wrong. I did none of those things. I’m still frustrated. And still looking. Let me know if you have any suggestions.
Hugs, Sherrie ;-}
