Sherrie, The Person

From Barbara
Campbell, a best friend of Sherrie's since 1987:
"Sherrie Lord is one of the zaniest ladies I've ever known. The first time I met her, she was wearing "deelyboppers," a headband with two pink pinwheels whirring on the ends of Martian-like antennae. She was serving hors-d'oeuvres at a surprise birthday party for her husband, only it was three months after his birthday so he wouldn't suspect anything. He didn't, and still doesn't bat an eye at all the bizarre and imaginative antics Sherrie comes up with. That's the voice that shines through her books, in the comments her characters speak and the wild situations they find themselves in. Her personality makes reading her books a kick! "
Harry and Sherrie live in Idaho and are avid motorcyclists, riding in ministry with the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA); Harry is president of their local chapter. Sherrie rides about 5,000 miles a year on her own bike, a 1996 Yamaha Virago 750 she calls Vickie.
Harry and Sherrie's eldest son, Mike (25), earned his CMA backpatch and is now one of their chapter's road captains. He gave them their first grandchild in 2002; he's a tender father. He's also a magician with computers, adding little goodies to improve Sherrie's machine, and keeping his employer's complex computer network happy. He recently bought his first house. Son Erik (23) is in his final year in naval architecture at the U.S. Naval Academy. He started out following his big brother's example, and joined the enlisted ranks. But Erik hadn't even completed his first patrol on a nuclear submarine in the Pacific fleet before his captain suggested he apply to the Academy. He'll be a Naval officer until Uncle Sam makes him retire. Sherrie's sons make the fourth generation of men in her family who have served in the Navy--except for a brother who was a Marine. This included her paternal grandfather, her father and only uncle, both her brothers, and both her sons. She's in her eighth year as a Navy Mom--and loves it.
Sherrie was a disk jockey at a local radio station and the boys were in grade school when she started college. She earned a degree in environmental science, worked several years for an environmental consulting firm, then acted as health and safety officer for several of its research facilities while she attended night school. She was stacking up credits for a master's degree in industrial health and safety when the Lord told her to abandon school and spend her time writing; within months she had offers for not one, but two books! A local radio station enticed her back to the microphone for a while, just before Only His Kiss was released, but now she's authoring full time--and trying to adjust to her new boss.
Sit back and enjoy her books. She'll make you cry, she'll make you laugh, but
she'll never bore you.
